Rules and responsibilities of the space tenant
Letter of rules and responsibilities for space tenants
To ensure a pleasant, safe, and efficient working environment for all users of our ceramics workshop, we ask that you carefully read the rules below and adhere to them at all times. These measures guarantee the smooth running of firings, the quality of the equipment, and harmonious relations among all users.
Thank you for your cooperation.
-----------
Operating rules and responsibilities
1. Knowledge of ceramics and prerequisites
- You must have completed a minimum of two ceramics course sessions (in our workshop or elsewhere) to ensure your autonomy in the space.
- If you have any doubt about a technique, glaze, or firing process, ask before proceeding . A mistake could damage the kiln, other people's pieces, or the workshop.
2. Baking and cones
- We do our biscuit firings with cone 06 and our glaze firings with cone 6. If you buy your equipment from outside, please plan according to the firings.
- Non-compliant pieces (piece too thick, incompatible clay, poorly applied or cleaned glaze, double soaking, etc.) may be rejected for firing and returned to your shelf.
- Never use clay from nature, or from an unknown firing temperature.
3. Drying the parts
- Drying takes place exclusively on your personal tablet .
- Never move or touch other users' parts.
- If your pieces are not dry enough, they will not be baked to avoid explosions in the oven.
4. Enameling
- Do not layer glazes without checking compatibility. Some combinations run and can damage the kiln.
- You must bake your pieces on your own tiles to protect the oven trays.
- Any piece that leaks during cooking and damages a slab/element will incur a replacement fee ($70 plus tax).
- If you experience any problems, discomfort, or uncertainty regarding the enameling, please let us know before taking a chance.
5. Responsibilities, damages and breakage
- If you damage the equipment, materials, oven slab or component, you will be required to pay for the repair or replacement costs .
- If you break someone else's item or object, you must notify those in charge immediately .
- The workshop is not responsible for parts left too long, incorrectly identified or abandoned for a long period.
- Clearly identify your storage shelf with your name/signature.
- Clearly identify each of your pieces, as well as your test tiles, with your name/signature so that they can be returned to your tablet.
- If you are leaving or taking a break of a month or more, please take all your belongings and clear out your space. This does not prevent you from returning after your absence.
- Please note, if you have not notified us of a break, or have not come to the workshop for a month or more, you must still pay for the month of space rental.
6. Respect for equipment and space
- No equipment, tool, or sponge should be left dirty. Wash everything you use, out of respect for everyone.
- The floor should be washed after each use to prevent dust buildup and provide a pleasant space for everyone.

- A piece that is too thick, poorly enameled, contains an incompatible material or presents risks may be rejected.
- The safety of the oven and other parts is the priority.
